Crystallism - Ceramics by Peter Collis
05 Jul to 25 Jul
New Zealander Peter Collis has worked with clay nearly all of his life; the main focus of his work has been the handling of shape and surface. Collis is a highly skilled thrower and a leader in technical aspects - he creates pure form vessels, which he then treats in a wide range of methods: he makes his own luster glazes, crackle glazes, textured engobe, and in his new works he has been experimenting with matt finishes and crystal glazes. He formulates clay bodies for particular purposes and adjusts a glaze to give him precisely what he requires in an eyelash drop, rich colour finishes the surface to complement the forms. Peter is a highly respected potter; he exhibits internationally and is represented in collections around the world.
Form Gallery will be hosting Peter Collis for a solo exhibition through the month of July; we would like to warmly invite you all to the exhibition opening for “Crystallism”, which will commence at Form Gallery at 5:30pm on Wednesday the 5th of July. As with all of our exhibitions, this show will run for approximately three weeks - concluding on the 25th of July.Details
