Live theatre: 'Rapanui- the song of stone'
Sunday 26 Mar 2017
'Rapanui- the song of stone' has been touring NZ since
February. It is a one-person show that was written during a 5-week stay on Rapa Nui (Easter
Island, Chile). Christchurch has its own Rapanui- Shag Rock. A connection between these two places is suggested through the story that playwright, Lisa Allan, has crafted.
This show comes from stone. Stone has a tale
to tell, a tale that reaches to the stars and has a place on Earth.
Those familiar with the stories Cloud Atlas or The Fountain will feel right at home with the style of this
piece. For those of you not familiar
with these works, you are invited to step into a world where souls travel
through time, reincarnating as new beings in different places.
Discover a cosmic story carved out through myth, imaginings, song and physicality. A child flees a far off planet, a native American woman leads her tribe across the ocean and Rapanui, the great sternpost gently guides us home.
Get tickets at Eventfinda or there will be limited doorsales on the door (unless sold out prior). There will be complimentary nibbles and a cuppa after the show.
