Ingham's Lazy Sundays

Love music? Love summer? Then Ingham's Lazy Sundays is just the thing to put summer into your Sundays.

Load up the chilly bin and enjoy free live music every Sunday afternoon through January and February.

Please note all concerts will be on The Archery Lawn, Botanic Gardens except for the session on Sunday 22 January which will be held at St Albans Park.

A great line-up of acts have been selected from swing jazz, folk, pop and country to composers sharing with us their engaging and internationally acclaimed originals.

Ingham's Lazy Sundays 2017 Schedule:

8 January – Hobnail - Celtic stompers from Wellington.

15 January - Mike Field Quintet - Canadian jazz trumpeter with bright, upbeat and energetic music. His latest album Attic Jump (2015), reached the top of the Canadian jazz charts. 

22 January - Breathing Cage - Unfortunately this event has been cancelled due to poor weather. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

29 January - Elizabeth Braggins and Devilish Mary and the Holy Rollers
Gifted musician Elizabeth Braggins performs an eclectic mix of genres highlighting her classical, jazz, pop and rock backgrounds. Joining her on stage is her daughter, Olivia Wilson. 

With the remarkable voice and violin of Anita Clark this 3 piece play incandescent swing jazz tunes, fiery torch songs and heartfelt love ballads.      

5 Feb - Fledge - Hera, Moses and special guests - pop rock and folk. 

12 Feb -
All Girl Big Band - 16 piece all women big band playing classic swing, jazz and jive.

19 Feb -
Christchurch Pops Choir - 50 piece singing Gershwin to Gaga. They bring to the stage pop, rock, jazz, musical theatre, swing, soul and even some traditional classics creating an exciting mix for performers and audiences alike.  

26 Feb - 3 Acts Finale
Due to wet weather this session of Ingham's Lazy Sundays was postponed to 12th March. See below.

August Fields: Christchurch pop rockers.  

Katie Thompson: Katie Thompson has been carving her pathway within the country music scene in New Zealand, although her sound transcends the singer-songwriter “format”, bleeding into genres as diverse as rock, pop, folk and more. 

Volts: Emerging Christchurch artists Volts have been making a big impact during their relatively short career. The group comprises of songstress Lorna Hay on vocals, Marc Royal on guitar and the recent addition of David Sutherland on drums. Volts create their own original and enigmatic blend of indie pop rock music.

5 March - Special bonus session with Cam Scott
We are very excited to announce a special bonus session of Ingham's Lazy Sundays with country rock artist Cam Scott. Named Male Artist of the Year in 2015 by the NZCMA, he released his debut single 'Somethin Bout A Girl' in 2014 which peaked at #12 on iTunes across all genres. 

12 March - Katie Thompson, Volts and August Fields

A special extended session of Ingham's Lazy Sundays with Katie Thompson, Volts and August Fields. Load up the chilly bin and head to the Archery Lawn for the final Ingham's Lazy Sundays concert for 2017!

Event Information

A coffee vendor will be on site and the Ilex Café is a short 2 minute walk away.

Catch a bus to avoid parking delays or carpool with friends and family. Be sun smart and don't forget to slip, slop, slap!

Parking is available at the Botanic Gardens car parks off Armagh Street and Riccarton Avenue, please note these often run full during peak times. 

Mobility parking is available at the Botanic Gardens car parks off Armagh Street and Riccarton Avenue and on Rolleston Avenue by the Museum. There are flat paved paths to the Archery Lawn venue which is a level grass lawn. Disabled toilets are nearby at 3 locations.
