ANZAC Commemoration 2017
Sunday 23 Apr
The Friends of Linwood Cemetery's annual ANZAC Commemoration. Listen to the reading out of 300+ names of people who gave their life or youth to military service and are buried or memorialised in Linwood Cemetery with a special reference to those who died in the Ypres Campaign 1917. Linwood Cemetery doesn't have a military section, so these people are largely forgotten.
The event concludes with the Last Post and a piped lament (to be confirmed) and those attending are invited to sit in quiet reflection, visit ancestors or just wander around this valuable heritiage site and greenspace for the Eastern suburbs.
Trustees of the Friends will be available to answer questions about the cemetery.
Please bring a chair and wear clothing suitable for the weather and sitting in the shade. Note that the nearest public toilets are a considerable walk away.
THIS EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE REGARDLESS OF WEATHER.
